Things to consider: The T&Cs
Specifications
We normally cut logs to lengths of around 20-30cm and chop to a maximum width of around 15cm so the logs should fit your fireplace or wood burner. Other sizes can be supplied upon request
V.A.T.
Most logs are supplied for domestic heating where the rate of VAT is charged at 5% and this is included in the prices. Where the logs are being bought for any other purposes, the standard rate of VAT which is currently 20% applies, and we would have to adjust the price. VAT invoices are provided.
Delivery
£5/m for orders of at least 1 cubic metre within 10 miles of our premises, else there may be a small surcharge depending on distance and quantity involved. For reasons of health and safety we have to minimise self collection from our premises except in emergencies
Tipping and stacking
Please note our lowest priced service is for bulk firewood which we carry in cages then drop to ground behind our truck, loose, without putting it away. Sometimes we also use a small tipper truck, in which case the volume is measured just as carefully. We can indeed stack the logs for you if you make prior request, but we need notice so as to allow extra time for this. The price for stacking away is usually £10.00/cubic metre inc VAT. (That's subject to not having to carry firewood a long way and to an awkward place). We cannot leave logs on a public road or pavement.
Measurement
Please be aware that, due to the effect of varying moisture content on their density, firewood logs in the UK are sold by loose filled volume and not charged for by weight. Kiln dried logs may seem lighter than other firewood because there's less sap.
Our usual bulk containers are of dimensions 995 by 1180 by 1030mm. These containers are filled by gravity from a conveyor system after the logs are cut and chopped. We allow for some settlement in the drying process and aim to supply you a generous cubic metre loose filled every time. Roughly speaking a cubic metre of loose logs when neatly stacked will occupy about 0.7 cubic metre of space.
We deliver logs to your site in these containers unless we are using a tipper truck, in which case we would either first have measured your logs in crates or used a machine of known capacity to load the delivery vehicle in bulk.
Guarantee
We want you to be happy with your logs, but if you have any reason not to be entirely satisfied with the quality please discuss it with us and we will try to resolve your problem in a fair and equitable way.
