We supply hardwood and softwood logs which we can cut to the size you want, however lengths of about 25cm, perfect for the fireplace, would be our standard stock. And generally chopped up to about 15cm wide.
Most of our customers buy their logs in bulk which we measure by the cubic metre in crates and deliver ourselves locally.
We can also supply logs in net bags which make them easy to manage in smaller quantities.
Hardwood
The usual hardwood types good for domestic burning include oak, ash, beech, birch, hornbeam, sycamore, chestnut, alder, elm, poplar, maple. Hardwood comes from deciduous trees native to Britain and is slow growing. For the same volume the logs are denser than softwood and release more kilowatts per cubic metre (calories or BTUs if you like!) and have a longer burn time. Less prone to spitting and sparks than softwood. But dearer, especially if it's oak and ash which are many peoples' favourites.

Softwood
These logs come from coniferous trees, which may be larch, spruce, pine or similar. The timber is fast growing, more plentiful and easier to handle and cut than hard wood, hence it is cheaper to bring to the market. The heating potential in kW per kg is about the same as hardwood but a cubic metre doesn't weigh as much. However the price for a cubic meter is less and makes it extra good value. It is still suitable for most purposes particularly wood stoves

Our logs are 100% British and local, not hauled in from miles away to ecological detriment
We are happy to recommend a chimney sweep who operates in our area, he's been doing it a long time.
